Neo Scale Models is a highly regarded brand in the premium miniature vehicle market, celebrated for capturing obscure, classic, and highly specific European, British, and American cars. Unlike mass-market diecast brands, Neo targets serious adult collectors who appreciate niche automotive history.
The brand was originally created in 2006 as an in-house label for the Dutch model car import and distribution company Replicars, based in Nijmegen. It was officially established as its own prominent brand entity around 2009 by Jaap van Dijk and model designer Mark Asbreuk.
In late 2011, Neo Scale Models was acquired by Model Car World, a massive German online model car retailer and developer. Following the sale, the original creators went on to form another famous high-end resin brand, Matrix Scale Models.
Neo Scale Models is a pioneer in shifting the premium collector market away from traditional diecast metal toward resin. Resin casting uses flexible rubber molds. This allows Neo to create incredibly sharp body lines, incredibly thin and realistic body panels, and a glass-like paint finish that is difficult to achieve on diecast metal.
