W Motors is an Emirati sports car company founded in Lebanon in 2012, being the first developer of high-performance luxury sports cars in the Middle East. Based in Dubai, the company's activities include automotive design, research and development, as well as vehicle engineering and manufacture. W Motors also performs automotive consultancy within its Special Project Operations division.

In addition to developing its own cars, W Motors developed the first vehicle for China-based sister company ICONIQ Motors - the ICONIQ Seven, a fully electric multipurpose vehicle.

W Motors plans to begin development of its production facility in Dubai in 2019 with the project set to be completed at the beginning of 2020. The facility will accommodate the production of W Motors’ current and future models including electric and autonomous vehicles and join the existing W Motors’ Dubai-based Design Studio and its flagship Gallery.

Development of the W Motors brand took seven years.  European auto manufacturers Carrozzeria ViottiMagna SteyrRUF Automobile and StudioTorino were involved in W Motors's development. Initial investment topped US$13 million, some of which came from FFA Private Bank of Lebanon, who became a stakeholder in the company.

W Motors launched its first prototype model, the Lykan HyperSport, at the Qatar International Motor Show in January 2013. Shortly thereafter, the company moved its headquarters to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Also in 2013, Universal Studios ordered twelve Lykan HyperSport stunt cars to appear in the film Furious 7, one of which is available for public viewing at the W Motors Gallery in Dubai. It is the most expensive car ever featured in the Fast and the Furious films, though the vehicles seen on screen were driveable stunt models rather than production vehicles. The Lykan HyperSport's first pre-production model debuted at the Dubai International Motor Show on 5 October 2013.

lykan hypersport

2013-2017

The Lykan HyperSport is powered by a flat 6-cylinder 3.7-litre  twin-turbo mid-rear engine, developing 780 hp and 960 N⋅m  of torque, claiming 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds with a maximum speed of 404 km/h. The manufacturer claims a top speed of 395 km/h.  A 24-hour concierge service is also available from Quintessentially. The production of the car was limited to a total of seven units.

At US$3.4 million, the Lykan HyperSport was the third most expensive production car at time of its production. The HyperSport is the first car to have headlights with embedded jewels; they contain titanium LED blades with 440 diamonds (15cts); although buyers had a selection of rubies, diamonds, yellow diamonds, and sapphires to be integrated into the vehicle's headlights at purchase based on the colour choice. The car also uses a holographic display system on the centre console with interactive motion features, as well as gold stitching on the seats. In June 2015, the Abu Dhabi Police purchased a Lykan HyperSport. The Abu Dhabi Police car is included in the total of seven, meaning only six were available for purchase by customers. W Motors has since confirmed all cars were sold.

The Lykan HyperSport was available with either a 6-speed sequential manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. The transmission is paired with a limited-slip differential and is mounted longitudinally at the rear of the car.

fenyr supersport

2019-present

The name of the car, Fenyr, comes from the word Fenrir, the name of a monstrous wolf in Norse mythology. The production of the car was originally planned to be up to 25 units per year, a drastic increase from the limited 7-car total production run of its predecessor. However, this was later changed to a total of 100 vehicles (and 10 launch editions).

The Fenyr SuperSport is powered by a 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine developed by Ruf Automobile, having a maximum power output of 799 hp at 7,100 rpm and 980 N⋅m  of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine has mid-rear mounted position. The Fenyr SuperSport is equipped with Porsche's 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. The transmission is paired with a limited-slip differential and is mounted transversely at the rear of the vehicle transferring power to the rear wheels.

The manufacturer claims a top speed of 400 kilometres per hour  for the Fenyr SuperSport. The car has a claimed 0–100 km/h  acceleration time of 2.7 seconds. This is at least 5 km/h (3 mph) faster and 0.1 seconds quicker than the claimed figures for the Lykan HyperSport.

ghiath

2018-present

The Ghiath from Dubai-based W Motors is not an SUV that is often spoken about but it sure goes about doing the job it was designed and built to do with precision and force, aided by advanced technology. The Dubai Police had added the car to its exotic fleet back in 2018 and since then has put it to use on several occasions. Also called the 'Beast Patrol', the Ghiath boasts of an extremely advanced communication system which is linked to the main command room of Dubai Police. It can constantly track cars deemed suspicious, from a considerable distance and is also equipped with an artificial intelligence system which was developed with the help of Safe City Group which specialises in AI, security forecasting and crime response. W Motors states that the Ghiath was developed keeping evolving policing needs and safety of people at large in consideration. "Developed in response to market demand for a new breed of mobile policing solutions, the vehicle prototype was exclusively designed in-house by W Motors’ highly skilled Special Projects Division," the company informs.

It’s unclear if the Ghiath is a one-off model, but it was built from General Motors’ parts bin. Nothing is known about its performance as yet, although going by the sheer looks alone, it’d be silly to think that it’s slow.
