mp4 1c  1983

The McLaren MP4/1 (initially known as the MP4) was a Formula One racing car produced by the McLaren team. It was used during the 1981, 1982 and 1983 seasons. It was the second Formula One car to use a monocoque chassis wholly manufactured from carbon fibre composite, after the Lotus 88 that debuted at the 1981 US Grand Prix West, a concept which is now ubiquitous. The MP4/1 was first entered in a Formula 1 race at the third grand prix of the season in Argentina.

From 1981 until late 1983 the MP4/1 was powered by the 3.0 litre Ford-Cosworth DFV V8 engine, but in late 1983 the team switched to turbocharging, using a 1.5 litre TAG V6 engine built by Porsche.

Niki Lauda was a three-time F1 World Drivers' Champion, winning in 1975, 1977 and 1984, and is the only driver in F1 history to have been champion for both Ferrari and  McLaren, two of the sport's most successful constructors.

mclaren f1  1992-1998

The McLaren F1 is a sports car designed and manufactured by British automobile manufacturer McLaren Cars, and powered by the BMW S70/2 V12 engine. The original concept was conceived by Gordon Murray. The car features numerous proprietary designs and technologies; it is lighter and has a more streamlined structure than many modern sports cars, despite having one seat more than most similar sports cars, with the driver's seat located in the centre.

BMW M  designed and built Murray a 6,064 cc  V12 engine called the BMW S70/2. At 627 PS.  Gordon Murray insisted that the engine for this car be naturally aspirated.

The F1 remains one of the fastest production cars ever made; as of October 2018 it is succeeded by very few cars, such as the Bugatti Veyron and the Bugatti Chiron. 106 cars have been build.

f1 gtr longtail 1995-1997

The McLaren F1 GTR is the racing variant of the McLaren F1 sports car first produced in 1995 for grand touring style racing, such as the BPR Global GT SeriesFIA GT ChampionshipJGTC, and British GT Championship. It was powered by the naturally aspirated BMW S70/2 V12 engine. It is most famous for its overall victory at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans where it won against faster purpose-built prototypes in very wet conditions. The F1 GTR raced internationally until 2005 when the final race chassis was retired.

Gordon Murray, creator of the McLaren F1, originally saw his creation as the ultimate road car, with no intention to take the car racing. Although the car used many racing technologies and designs, it was felt that the car should be a road car first, without any intent built into the creation of the car to modify it into a racing car.

Finally, Murray relented and agreed to modify the F1 into a racing car, agreeing to build several chassis for competition in the 1995 season.

Because of the rules at the time, the BMW S70 V12 engine was required to use an air restrictor to limit power output to around 600 PS, making the racing car less powerful than the road car, yet faster and more nimble due to a lowered overall weight.

At Le Mans 1995, the Kokusai Kaihatsu McLaren obtained victory and the highest practice top speed of the year, reaching 281 km/h on the Mulsanne Straight. At Le Mans 1997, the 1997 car reached 317 kilometres per hour on the Mulsanne straight.

The 1995 versions of F1 GTR generated enough downforce to run along the ceiling at 160 km/h.

A total of 28 F1 GTR chassis were built. Nine were built in 1995-spec, nine in 1996-spec, and ten more in 1997-spec. Some cars were upgraded from one spec to another, but this count only includes cars built from scratch to that specification.

mp4 20  2005

The McLaren MP4-20 is a Formula One racing car that was built by McLaren for the 2005 Formula One season. The chassis was designed by Adrian Newey, Paddy Lowe, Pat Fry, Mike Coughlan and Peter Prodromou with Mario Illien designing the bespoke Ilmor engine. The car was driven by Kimi Räikkönen and Juan Pablo Montoya. The MP4-20 was the last McLaren car to be powered by Mercedes-Benz under the Ilmor partnership since the 1995 season. The car's chassis was an almost completely new design after the failure of the MP4-18 and MP4-19.

This would be McLaren's last car to feature the grey and black livery of primary sponsor West cigarettes, a partnership which began with the MP4/12 in 1997.

The McLaren MP4-12C, later known simply as the McLaren 12C, is a sports car that was designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive. It was the first ever production car wholly designed and built by McLaren, and their first production road car since the McLaren F1, which was last built in 1998. The car's final design was unveiled in September 2009 and was launched in mid-2011.

mp4 12c 2011-2014

The McLaren MP4-12C, later known simply as the McLaren 12C, is a sports car that was designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive. It was the first ever production car wholly designed and built by McLaren, and their first production road car produced since the McLaren F1, which ended production in 1998. The car's final design was unveiled in September 2009 and was launched in mid-2011.

The MP4-12C uses a carbon fibre composite chassis, and is powered by a longitudinally-mounted McLaren M838T 3.8 L twin-turbocharged V8 engine, generating approximately 600 PS at 7500 rpm and around 600 N⋅m of torque at 5600 rpm. The car makes use of Formula 1-sourced technologies such as "brake steer", where the inside rear wheel is braking during fast cornering to reduce understeer. Power is transmitted to the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission Seamless-Shift gearbox (SSG) manufactured by Graziano Trasmissioni.

McLaren has claimed the vehicle's top speed to be 333 km/h but a top speed of 346.6 km/h was achieved in the MP4-12C Spider, which is 3 mph "slower" than the coupe. DragTimes.com posted a YouTube video of a stock McLaren 12C accelerating from 0 to 60 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 161 km/h in 6.1 seconds.

All of the major components were produced by external contractors, with only final assembly, paint and inspection / shipping occurring at the McLaren Production Centre. Final assembly started with the MonoCell, around which all components were then placed and fitted.

A convertible version of the car called the MP4-12C Spider, renamed the 12C Spider in 2012, was also available. In February 2014, McLaren announced the related 650S, with revised bodywork, upgraded engine and other technical improvements. In April 2014, McLaren announced the end of production of the 12C.

mp4 12c spider 2011-2014

The 12C Spider is a convertible version of the MP4-12C with a retractable hardtop. Because the coupe was designed from the outset with a convertible version in mind, no additional strengthening was needed for the Spider and it weighs only 40 kg more than the coupe. McLaren has worked to keep the Spider's top speed 328 km/h close to the coupé's 333 km/h top speed and up to 315 km/h is possible roof down. Meanwhile, the dihedral doors of the coupé are retained.

The MP4-12C uses a carbon fibre composite chassis, and is powered by a  3.8 L  twin-turbocharged V8 engine, generating approximately 600 PS. McLaren has claimed the vehicle's top speed to be 333 km/h.

12c gt3 2012

The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is a race car produced by McLaren, and a small number race version of the MP4-12C in order to compete in the FIA Group GT3, also being the company's first racing sportscar since the F1 GTR.

It has McLaren's carbon MonoCell chassis and new aerodynamics package developed by McLaren Racing in compliance with GT3 regulations, as well as a bespoke paddle-shift system operating an all-new Ricardo-designed gearbox developed specifically for racing. The GT3 produces less power than the road car, with only 493 bhp due to homologation. It took its first victories at the two races of the Circuito de Navarra round of the 2012 FIA GT1.

Powered by a downtuned variant of the M838T 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the #59 12C GT3 produces only 493 hp and 500 N·m as a result of homologation. The #59 variant produces 539 hp and 628 N·m instead.

The 12C GT3 uses a new bespoke six-speed gearbox that is 80 kg lighter than the road-going 12C's seven-speed gearbox, developed with Ricardo. The steering wheel is used directly from the MP4-24 F1 car.

mp4 27  2012

The McLaren MP4-27 is a Formula One racing car designed by Vodafone McLaren Mercedes for the 2012 Formula One season. The chassis was designed by Paddy Lowe, Neil Oatley, Tim Goss, Andrew Bailey and John Iley and was powered by a customer Mercedes-Benz engine. The car was driven by former World Champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

This was the last McLaren car that Lewis Hamilton drove for the team, as he moved to the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team in 2013. This was also the last McLaren Formula One car to win a race until the McLaren MCL35M did so in 2021. The car achieved 7 wins, 8 poles and third place in the Constructors' Championship in 2012.

p1

The McLaren P1 is a sports car produced by British marque McLaren Automotive. It is a plug-in hybrid with a mid-engine layout. It was first shown at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, with sales of the P1 beginning in the United Kingdom in October 2013 and all of the limited run of 375 units sold by November 2013. Production ended in early December 2015. The United States accounted for 34% of the units and Europe for 26%.

It is considered by the automotive press to be the successor to the McLaren F1, utilising hybrid power and Formula One technology, but does not have the same three-seat layout. It was later confirmed that the Speedtail served as the actual successor to the McLaren F1.

p1  2013-2015

The P1 has a mid-engine, rear wheel drive design that used a carbon fibre monocoque and roof structure safety cage concept called MonoCage, which is a development of the MonoCell first used in the MP4-12C and then in subsequent models. Its main competitors are the LaFerrari and the 918 Spyder. They are all similar in specifications and performance, and in a race around Silverstone circuit they were all within half a second of each other.

The P1 features a 3.8 L twin-turbocharged V8 engine which deliver 737 PS, combined with an in-house-developed electric motor producing 179 PS  the combined power output was 916 PS.

The car can be operated using either the petrol engine, the electric motor or with a combination of the two. The P1 has an all-electric range of at least 10 km on the combined European drive cycle.

58 units of the track-oriented P1 GTR and 5 units of its road legal counterpart, the P1 LM were produced after the initial run of 375 cars.

According to McLaren the P1 accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.8 seconds, and 0–300 km/h in 16.5 seconds, making it a full 5.5 seconds faster than the F1.

The car is electronically limited to a top speed of 350 km/h.

650s  2014-2017

The 650S shares the MP4-12C's carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer chassis, and is powered by the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged McLaren M838T V8 engine, but is now rated at 650 PS.

The 650S has a claimed top speed of 333 km/h, and can accelerate from 0–100 km/ in 3.0 seconds and from 0–200 km/h in 8.4 seconds.

The 650S is an evolution of the preceding 12C and uses the findings gained from the P1 in order to make the car more responsive and focused. It was initially designed to be offered alongside the 12C but the declining sales of the 12C prompted McLaren to market the 650S as its replacement. The 650 in the car's name refers to the engine's power output in Pferdestärke, the European standard for horsepower while the S stands for Sport.

The interior includes Alcantara as the standard upholstery material and the infotainment system is based on the same unit used in the P1. Optional carbon fibre sports seats reduce the weight of the car by 15 kg. The interior focus on a symmetrical design language which McLaren claims reduces the shift time required by the owner to learn about the car's functions. The portrait infotainment screen is improved over the 12C and the sat nav system is now easily accessible.

650s spider  2014-2016

First announced in February 2014, the 650S Spider is a convertible version of the 650S. It weighs 40 kg more than the coupe, but it offers nearly identical performance. The Spider has the same structural stiffness as the coupé primarily because the carbon monocell chassis was designed without a roof.  the Spider features a three-piece retractable hard-top carbon fibre roof which takes 17 seconds for operation.

It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h  in 3 seconds and has a top speed of 328 km/h. Up to 25 percent of the parts are new compared to the 12C Spider.

570s  2015-present

The car is powered by a new iteration of the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine already used in the 650S and P1.  it delivers 562 hp. The car can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 328 km/h.

McLaren focused on delivering "day-to-day usability and driveability" against the most sporting model options in its range with increased luggage space, greater interior storage and leather upholstery options.

The car features dihedral doors, a trademark of McLaren as featured on its ultimate and super series cars.

675lt

The McLaren 675LT is a lightweight, track-focused evolution of the McLaren 650S. It was announced in February 2015. McLaren only made 500 675LT Coupe (without counting the special editions such as the MSO HS).

675lt chicane  2015-2017

As with the 650S, the 675LT makes use of single-piece carbon fibre monocell weighing 75 kg, and carbon fibre use in the vehicle is increased in order to further minimise weight and increase rigidity. The 675LT is supplied with new carbon ceramic brake discs to increase braking performance over the 650S. Disc sizes are 394 mm at the front and 380 mm at the rear. Six-piston calipers grip the front discs with four-piston caliper used for the rears. Braking performance is also aided by the air brake ability of the new rear wing.

The car is powered by a variation of the M838T 3.8 L twin-turbocharged V8 engine rated at 675 PS.  The 675LT can accelerate from 0–100 km/h  in 2.9 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the 650S. 0–200 km/h  in 7.9 seconds, 0–300 km/h in 25.9 seconds, continuing on to a claimed top speed of 330 km/h. The 675 in the 675LT model name refers to the power output of 675 PS.

The 675LT uses the 7-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox used in the 650S, with improved software reducing the shift time.

675lt spider 2016-2017

A convertible variant of the 675LT was revealed online in December 2015. It shares the same 675 PS, 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the coupé, but has a folding hardtop roof as seen on the 650S Spider taking 16 seconds for operation. The 675LT Spider can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and 0–200 km/h in 8.1 seconds. The top speed is reduced slightly, to 327 km/h.

McLaren only built 500 675LT Spider (without counting special editions such as the Carbon Series).

In June 2016, McLaren publicly released the 675LT Spider Carbon Series. The cars are based on the 675LT Spider and have the same engine and performance. An extra 40 per cent of the body panels are carbon fiber such as the retractable roof and tonneau, A-pillars, bonnet and rear deck, side blades, complete front and rear wings, and even fuel filler flap.

Only 25 Carbon Series have been built bringing the total number of 675LTs Spider to 525.
