The Fabryka Samochodów Rolniczych from Poznan was a factory for agricultural vehicles. In 1973 or 1974 the production of passenger cars began . The brand name was Tarpan , named after a wild horse . Production ended in 1996 when Fabryka Samochodów Rolniczych was dissolved. The vehicles were off-road vehicles that were also suitable as utility vehicles in agriculture. One source calls the first model the Tarpan 4x4 .
